A Google review belongs on Google. A testimonial is something a customer writes for you to use on your website and your leaflets. Both are useful and they are not the same thing. FiveStariz asks for a testimonial after the review buttons, never instead of them.

What you get

How it works

It comes after the review buttons, always

The customer sees where to review you first. The testimonial box is extra, further down, and skipping it costs nothing.

Permission in writing, in plain words

The consent line says exactly where their words may appear and what name will be shown. They tick it or they do not.

You choose the name shown

Full name, first name and initial, or first name only. Whatever they agreed to is what appears.

Nothing goes public until you approve it

Every testimonial waits for you. Approve it, leave it, or delete it entirely.

Why this is separate

Because a review is not yours to move

Some tools collect a "review" onto their own page and count it as a win. The business did the work and the platform keeps the asset, while your Google listing stays where it was.

  • Your review buttons always come first. Google, Facebook or whichever sites you chose.
  • A testimonial never replaces a review. It is an extra question after the main one.
  • We do not host a review page pretending to be a review site. Housecall Pro splits a share of requests onto a page on their own domain by default, and we think that is the wrong way round.
  • Delete it and it is gone. It was a favour from your customer, not our data.

Questions

Testimonials, answered

Is a testimonial the same as a review?

No. A review lives on Google or another public site and anyone can read it there. A testimonial is words a customer gave you to use in your own marketing, with permission.

Can I use a testimonial on Google?

No, and you should not try. Posting a customer's words to Google yourself is a fake review, whatever the intention. The review has to come from them.

What if someone changes their mind?

Delete it and it is removed everywhere, including from the website box. We keep a record that it was deleted and not the words themselves.

Try it on your own customers

Add your business, send 1 request to your own phone, and see the whole thing end to end.
